High quality, and big sensor!
ZWO has worked hard to reduce the weight of this camera while improving its performance. After years of technical accumulation and repeated weight loss experiments by ZWO engineers, ZWO finally concentrated the ASI6200 to 0.7kg.
Full Size!
The ASI6200MM Pro uses a full frame sensor, the length and width of the sensor is 24mm*36mm, and the diagonal is 43.3mm. It is a 61.2MP camera with a small pixel size of 3.76µm which can accommodate great depth with 51.4ke.
Finally a native 16-bit ADC
The ASI6200MM Pro is one of the first CMOS astronomy cameras with 16-bit ADC. This 16-bit ADC is not a 16-bit CCD ADC, it really can achieve 14 stops dynamic range output. This dramatically improves image sharpness and contrast, and color changes are smoother and more natural.
IMX455 back-illuminated sensor
Sony's back-illuminated CMOS sensor improves sensitivity and noise reduction - key factors in improving image quality, while radically realigning their fundamental pixel structure from front-light to back-light. It retained the advantages of CMOS image sensors such as low power consumption and high-speed operation.
With a conventional front illumination structure, the metal wiring and transistors on the surface of the silicon substrate that form the light-sensitive area of the sensor (photo-diode) prevent photon collection by the on-chip lens. A back-illuminated structure minimizes optical angular response sensitivity degradation, while also increasing the amount of light that enters each pixel due to the lack of obstructions such as metal wiring and transistors that have been moved to the back of the silicon substrate.
Sony has recently developed a unique photodiode structure and on-chip lens optimized for back-illuminated structures, which achieves higher sensitivity and lower random noise without light by reducing noise, dark current and defective pixels compared to conventional front lighting.
Camera performance
The ASI6200MM Pro has excellent performance with a dynamic range of up to 14 stops. When the gain value is 100, the magic HCG high gain mode is activated, playback noise is greatly reduced, and the dynamic range is virtually unchanged. It is recommended to set the gain to 0 or gain 100 in deep space.
Zero Ampere Glow
Traditional CMOS sensors produce a faint infrared light source during operation, quite often seen in the corner of uncalibrated images as telltale signs of "amp glow". Since the ASI6200MM Pro uses a zero-amp glow circuit, you won't have to worry about amp glow even when using high-gain, long-exposure imaging.
Antidew
ASI6200MM Pro comes with a polyimide heater which can avoid any fogging problem.
The anti-fog heater which perfectly fits the protective window will heat it to avoid any dew problem.
The power of the anti-dew heater is approximately 5W and can be disabled in software to save energy.
EQ value
The peak QE value of the ASI6200MM Pro is 91%.
Two-stage TEC cooling, ultra-low dark current
ASI6200MM Pro uses two-stage TEC cooling which can lower the temperature of the CMOS sensor to more than 35°C below ambient temperature, which can greatly reduce dark current generation and sensor noise even with longer dwell times. prolonged exposure.
Unique dark current suppression technology can further reduce dark current noise.
At 0° cooling temperature, the dark current noise is only 0.003e/s/pix. Which means that a 300s exposure can only cause 0.9e dark current noise, which is completely negligible!
Note: ASI6200 Pro camera needs 1A current from USB, if your PC can't supply enough current, please use external 12V power supply to power the camera.
DDR3 USB3.0 and 256M memory
ASI6200MM Pro is equipped with USB 3.0 transmission interface and built-in 256MB DDR3 cache to ensure stable and secure data transmission. Under long exposure, it effectively avoids frame drop and greatly reduces dark current noise.
